A new habit to adopt

HELLO FRIENDS,

Personally, this last season has been a James chapter one season...

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” (James 1:2 NIV)

It can be REALLY difficult to find joy in the trials and in the challenging seasons. The joy that the Lord offers is one that is not circumstantial, but one that is present in the midst of chaos.

During this season, I started something that has become a practical habit for me. Every night I journal three things that I am grateful for and I share it with my close friends. Some days are more challenging than others, but I am reminded that I ALWAYS have something to be grateful for, even if it’s something simple like a crisp and cold Diet Coke, or freshly washed sheets. And when I choose to focus on gratefulness it becomes easier to see the joy even in the trials.

This week I invite you to join me in journaling three things you are grateful for every single day and see how this simple habit can reframe your mindset. Let’s start now! Today I am grateful for:

- Cozy blankets
- Fresh air
- Community

Thanking Jesus for you and the opportunity to be in this church community with you!

Blessings,
Emily Pursel
