Be More Like Jesus

HELLO FRIENDS,

In our Pause Reading Plan, the new year brought us back to the book of Luke where we get to read about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. It is nice to be reminded of the simple gospel that Jesus portrays throughout his life.

We are surrounded by such complexity when it comes to relationships, politics, and expectations that the world places on our shoulders. All of this brings about anxiety.

When reading through the book of Luke, I am inspired to simplify my thoughts, simplify my actions, and hone in on what is most important: HOW CAN I BE MORE LIKE JESUS?

Here are a few notes I observed:

Compassionate: While a Pharisee judged a woman for her past, Jesus focused on her heart and her act of love. (The Sinful Women, Luke 7:36-50)

Prayerful: Jesus prayed often. He prayed in times of agony and in times where big decisions had to be made.

Forgiving: Even while hanging on the cross, Jesus chose forgiveness. He forgave the man hanging next to him and forgave his executioners. “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” (Luke 23:34)

Patient: Jesus was very misunderstood. Misunderstood by strangers and even misunderstood by his disciples. His patience was necessary to be an effective teacher.

How can you be more like Jesus this week?
