What is a Spiritual Rhythm?
HELLO FRIENDS.
Over the past few weeks, in small groups and during our weekend services, we have been looking at the topic of spiritual formation and how we can be formed to live like Jesus by purposefully seeking to follow Him and learn from Him. During our sermon series, The Jesus Way, we’ve been focusing on intentional practices for our formation. Remember, we are always being formed–either positively or negatively–in some way. The question is: what are we allowing to form us?
When we look in Scripture at the life of Jesus we can see how He models spiritual practices like prayer, solitude, fasting, serving and generosity. We can see how he lived in community and ate, laughed, cried and prayed with his disciples and others. Whenever we want to learn how to live we have the best instruction manual in the Word of God. Jesus is our Good Shepherd, our ultimate guide and our teacher!
This last weekend we wrapped up our series on The Jesus Way by looking at spiritual rhythms. We asked the questions:
What is a spiritual rhythm?
Why is it important?
How can we continue or begin to incorporate spiritual rhythms into our every day ordinary life?
It’s not just because we want to add something more to our already busy, sometimes overwhelming lives. Jesus invites us instead to a rhythm of grace, rest and love.
If you missed the sermon you can watch it here!
With the holidays upon us, come and join us this weekend. It will be so good to be together and worship our awesome God who continually loves and forms us for love and freedom!
I hope you had an amazing Thanksgiving! See you Sunday!
